Our Story
Our mission is in supporting children, adults and their families in a therapeutic journey, empowering them to be more independent in their communication, awareness and self-belief.
Welcome to Dandelion Therapeutic Support, I'm Lydia, Founder and Clinical Director.
I qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist from University College London
(UCL) in 2001, having met my now husband during training.
My husband then joined the Armed Forces and we travelled the world, raising our family along the way. He has now retired, continuing to be a Reserve and we have planted our roots in Oxfordshire.
In our travels, I was fortunate enough to be able to work with the NHS, MOD, locum agencies, schools and private companies in every location that we were posted to.
Amongst many incredible courses, I was also able to complete a diploma in
Professional Therapeutic Counselling and Sensory Integration training (mod 1).
Before starting up Dandelion Therapeutic Support, I was Head of Therapy Services, Designated Safeguarding Lead and a member of the senior management team for a large Independent company, where I worked for 13 years.
In mid 2024, it was time for me to step away from these roles and focus on developing a professional, nurturing, and holistically approached support service of my own.
The ‘dandelion’ is the flower of the military child, so it felt apt that
‘Dandelion Therapeutic Support’ was born.
With the dandelion also being a symbol of hope, healing, and resilience in many cultures around the world - it is perfectly suited for our clients, families and team.
